Workshop
Building Open Source Through Community Co-Design
Tuesday, 19 May 2026 @ 10:05 - 11:05
Open source founders often treat community as a downstream growth mechanism rather than an upstream design partner. This workshop reframes community as a design practice: building products with affected communities, not simply for them.
The session focuses on practical co-design approaches that lean teams can apply immediately, including stakeholder mapping, participatory prototyping, contextual testing, and iterative feedback loops. We will also take part in hands-on exercises where they map stakeholders and pressure-test their own products through a “your product fails here” redesign prompt.
Participants will leave with a different perspective on open source sustainability: community is not just a growth channel or governance layer, but a design methodology that strengthens trust, adoption, contributor ownership, and long-term resilience.
