Peter Zaitsev
Co-founder & former CEO
Percona
"Open source founders are such a minority compared to all company founders, and the open source ecosystem is so different compared to other businesses. So I think there’s a lot we can learn from being together at a conference. I also think that open source founders are very different from open source developers — very few open source developers would ever think about starting a company and doing a business."
Peter Zaitsev is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Percona. As one of the foremost experts on open source strategy and databases optimization, Peter leveraged both his technical vision and entrepreneurial skills to grow Percona from a two-person shop to one of the most respected open source companies in the business.
Now Peter continues as a Board Member & Advisor in a range of open source startups. Peter is a co-author of High Performance MySQL: Optimization, Backups, and Replication, one of the most popular books on MySQL performance.
