But we haven't yet figured out how to sustain all of this software for decades or centuries to come. It's essential the people who have found individual workable solutions, collaborate and exchange ideas to help more projects accomplish the same. In particular, open-source businesses play a key role in answering the sustainability question."
Nils Adermann created Composer, the open-source package manager for PHP, and operates packagist.org, the central package repository for PHP. He co-founded Private Packagist, a commercial Composer package repository for businesses, to finance the work on the open-source software infrastructure. He works on improving developer tooling around package dependencies in PHP.
Nils Adermann is also a founding board member of the PHP Foundation striving to ensure the long term success of the PHP programming language. He has a focus on finding solutions to financing and securing the digital and open-source infrastructure in the PHP ecosystem that has become essential to business but also our everyday lives.
