Matt Trifiro is the Founder and Executive Director of the Commercial Open Source Startup Alliance (COSSA) at The Linux Foundation, an organization dedicated to strengthening the discipline of commercial open source through shared data, mentorship, and best practices for entrepreneurs, investors, and communities. He co-led the landmark 2025 State of Commercial Open Source report, which demonstrated that venture-backed open-source startups consistently outperform closed-source peers in valuations and funding outcomes.

Previously, Matt served as Chief Marketing Officer at Vapor IO, where he led global marketing and co-chaired the State of the Edge report. He is also Chair of The Linux Foundation's Open Glossary of Edge Computing and creator of the Over the Edge podcast on edge computing. He has been passionate about the business of open source for nearly three decades.
